Business Description

Introduction

This business actually started with not more than 5 cows. It is considered as our own savings and for family members wedding feasts .When the number was more than 20 herd of cows , part time farming turn to full-time work . This commercial ventures are becoming increasingly popular nowadays and very profitable,it has been proven by our business,and our company its firmly established since 2011 until now.
 

We are raising a beef cattle.With our good management and care , we can produce a very high quality of meat for our customer. 
 
Management

i . Intensive/feedlot

Cows are always in the barn with quality food and water. Meals are either grass,bran or a mixture of both, is given at the rate of 3-5 % dry weight of the cow's body weight per day. Grass is given in the morning and bran in the afternoon .

ii . semi- intensive

The cow will graze during the fixed period, at night the cow will go back to the barn and to be given additional feed. Farmers prepare the paddocks and stables sufficient .

 

Housing

i . construction of stables
( area: 1 cow = 30 square feet . If 10 herd of cows = 20 feet x 15 feet high and 8-10 feet )

ii . Trough food and drink ( Food trough = 1.5 ft / cow. Drink trough = 1 foot / cow )


Nutrition

A cow needs 20 -30 kg of grass per day, with good quality of grass. If not we will give a mineral supplements to the cow. We also use some of agricultural waste as a nutritional supplement.

Examples
: Skin cocoa, oil palm fiber, pineapple waste, sugar cane shoots, sprouts of corn, sago trunk and others.

Health Control


We have a good management systems to avoid disease, we always clean the cages and feed with sufficient quality.

The way to overcome the disease:

i. Keep the cow away from sharp objects.
ii. Giving drenching 2-3 times a year.
iii. Treat navel newborn calf.

and our management always contact the nearest Veterinary Services for further action.
